Shala L. Thomas is a proud alum of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (1999) and Xavier University of Louisiana (2003) in New Orleans where she obtained a BS in Biochemistry.  She has recently received a PhD from the Molecular & Systems Pharmacology program (MSP) at Emory University where she conducted cancer research.  Apart from her research, she has been involved in many aspects of medical writing and has taken a leading role of student representative of the MSP program and many community organizations including Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA), the Emory Black Graduate Student Association, and her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta. Shala has obtained a medical affairs associate position at Imedex, an oncology medical education company.  In her new position Shala plays a role in creating programs to disseminate the latest clinical research to physicians and healthcare professionals and writing scientific and medical content for enduring projects.
